HISTORY OF THE HOME

This home was initially built for Major John Gallie in 1852.

It is attributed to Architect John Norris because of its similarities to the Andrew Low House, a few yards west. John Norris is well known for the Mercer-Williams House and many other Savannah homes.

John Gallie, its owner, was killed only a few years later in the 1863 Battle of Fort McAllister
